Tenure-track Assistant Professor in Global Governance and Institutions

Applications are invited for an appointment as Tenure-track Assistant Professor in Global Governance and Institutions at the School of Governance and Policy (Ref.: 534414), to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract.

The School of Governance and Policy (SGP)

Established in 2025, SGP aspires to be the leading global hub for governance and policy scholarship and education, rooted in Hong Kong’s unique role as a bridge between China and the world, empowering leaders across Asia and beyond with strategic insight, analytical rigor, and cross-sector collaboration.  By fostering multidisciplinary knowledge, we aim to strengthen governance systems, enrich multilateral understanding, and drive transformative policy impact.

Duties and Responsibilities

The appointee will be expected to teach courses offered in postgraduate programmes related to international organizations, and/or global governance.  He/She will also contribute actively to research and knowledge exchange, programme development at postgraduate level, and assume service and administrative responsibilities as appropriate.

Requirements

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in public policy, law, history, or a closely related field on social sciences and humanities.  They should have teaching and research experience in any relevant specialism of international and regional organizations, public-private partnerships, and multilateralism to address economic and social policy challenges, especially in the Global South.  They should also have a proven track record, or strong potential for research excellence, scholarly publications and securing competitive external funding.  

What We Offer

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salary tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.  The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of basic salary.  Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
