The Department of Finance is looking for an experienced Tax Manager who is committed to the provision of a high quality, helpful and professional service for all clients.
Main duties and responsibilities
As Tax Manager, you will be responsible for the preparation and submission of the VAT and Corporation tax returns for the UH Group and other subsidiary companies. You will be the primary contact for all tax affairs across the UH Group and will provide expert tax advice to all staff across the University, including senior management. Additionally, you will take responsibility for training Finance and non-Finance colleagues to ensure compliance with our legal requirements. You will plan and manage the Group’s tax affairs in line with relevant legislation and forecast tax payments, including evaluating the tax consequences of current and future projects and negotiating with HM Revenue and Customs.
Skills and experience required
You will have previous tax experience in a large, multidisciplinary organisation, ideally with partial exemption VAT status. You will have experience of providing taxation advice, training and support, and negotiating with the tax authorities. You will have strong technical knowledge, particularly in VAT, and you should have experience of VAT returns and other tax returns.
As Tax Manager, you will have the ability to work effectively and to tight deadlines, demonstrating strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
