The University of Oxford is a stimulating work environment, which enjoys an international reputation as a world-class centre of excellence. Our research plays a key role in tackling many global challenges, from reducing our carbon emissions to developing vaccines during a pandemic.

The Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS) is part of the Medical Sciences Division and is the largest European academic department in its field, running a globally competitive programme of research and teaching. The Kennedy Institute is a biomedical research centre uniquely bringing together discovery science and early-stage clinical research, to develop transformative new therapies for chronic inflammatory and musculoskeletal conditions.

The Experimental Medicine Collaboration (EMC) collaboration combines the outstanding drug discovery, target validation and clinical development of GSK with Oxford’s exceptional track record in the research and development of new drug therapies and Oxford’s Old Road Campus Experimental Medicine capabilities, and particularly the Experimental Medicine Clinical Research Facility (EMCRF) (https://www.kennedy.ox.ac.uk/news/oxford-and-gsk-launch-experimental-medicine-collaboration). This will allow testing of multiple medicines across cellular mechanisms in parallel, ensuring accelerated assessment of existing and new therapies. Improving our understanding of the cellular basis of disease will help bridge the gap between drug development and trial delivery.
