The Faculty of History wishes to recruit a Temporary Assistant Professor in Modern British History. This is a fixed term 24 month Temporary Assistant Professorship. To cover the academic leave of the postholder in 2026-2028.
Your responsibilities will include delivering lectures, classes, and supervisions (small-group teaching) on Modern British History.
You will also be required to assess and register PhD students. You may also be called upon to serve as internal examiner of PhDs and you will be expected to participate in and help to convene the research seminar in Modern British History which meets regularly during termtime, and/or other Faculty seminars.
You will contribute to the administration of both undergraduate and postgraduate courses and may be expected to take one of the smaller administrative roles in the Faculty and you will be a member of the Modern British and Irish Subject Group.
We are looking for someone holding, by the start of the appointment, a doctorate in a relevant field and who has outstanding abilities in teaching and research. You will have an exceptional record of research and publications for your career stage and be able to demonstrate a firm commitment to teaching.
