This is a senior appointment, and the successful candidate will be expected to conduct internationally leading research in area of structural composites within the Department of Materials. The successful candidate will work closely with the School of Natural Sciences and Department of Materials Leadership Teams to help shape the strategic direction of this research area and will build new national and international partnerships from across academia and industry. As well as providing strong research direction, the appointee will help to develop the teaching profile within Materials and perform an important role in mentoring more junior academic colleagues.
The successful candidate will spearhead interdisciplinary area of advanced structural composites, working at the interface of advanced materials, advanced manufacturing and industrial application of composite materials. The specific domain of research interests includes advanced composites manufacturing including testing and mechanics of composites, out-of-autoclave manufacturing technologies for textile composites, damage tolerant structures, sustainable composites.
