The role
As the Professional Lead for Research, you will use your expertise to provide strategic and operational leadership and direction for the implementation of the RCN research strategy and high-quality evidence-base for the Institute of Nursing Excellence.
You will identify opportunities and lead on research-focused activities with RCN members and staff, to develop solutions and strategies for nursing to address contemporary health and social care challenges. You will influence nursing research, education, policy, practice and leadership; build professional relationships between the RCN, national and international stakeholders including statutory agencies, professional bodies, providers, commissioners, independent and third section organisations, public and patient groups. You will drive the success of the RCN as a business and disseminate College work at internal and external local and national events.

The person
To join us, you will have the skills to confidently lead and develop research grants, tenders and commercial opportunities. Be able to undertake systematic reviews; lead, design and analyse quantitative and/or mixed methods research; and translate complex theory, data and ideas to diverse audiences. You will be a registered nurse with a PhD in a relevant discipline; have excellent knowledge of current nursing research challenges and contexts; and have experience leading and contributing to knowledge mobilisation in a range of formats to different audiences.
You will have values in making a positive contribution to promoting equity diversity and inclusion. The ability to foster strong professional relationships and encourage close collaboration with members and key stakeholders will be at the heart of this role.
