This post is based within LSE Health and establishes the Health System Sustainability and Resilience Unit. As founding Director, the post-holder will provide strategic and academic leadership to the Partnership for Health System Sustainability and Resilience (PHSSR), a global research programme examining how health systems can deliver high-quality care sustainably in the face of demographic, epidemiological, technological, and economic challenges.

We seek to recruit an Unit Director, at a Senior Policy Fellow level, to coordinate the global programme of research, develop research frameworks, liaise with research partners and funding partners, represent LSE externally as a member of PHSSR, develop independent research outputs consistent with PHSSR's mission, and write grant proposals to expand the unit's capacity and impact. The post-holder will serve as a member of PHSSR's Management Committee and operational committees and will work closely with academic institutions in target countries to oversee research delivered through sub-contracted partnerships.

The role requires a PhD or master’s degree with extensive experience in a health policy, health systems, health economics, or related field; substantial experience of health systems research, policy analysis, or health system strengthening in multiple country contexts; experience working with senior decision-makers in government, international organizations, or health system leadership roles and knowledge of health system sustainability challenges, including financing, workforce, technology adoption, and demographic change. A strong track record of conducting and publishing high-quality health systems research in peer-reviewed journals is also essential.
