Saïd Business School is seeking an experienced and motivated Academic Events Manager to oversee the delivery of a diverse portfolio of academic events across the School’s three Academic Areas. This is a pivotal role, responsible for shaping and embedding a high-quality academic events strategy that supports faculty research, strengthens research culture and enhances the School’s global profile.
As Academic Events Manager, you will lead the Academic Events Team, delivering a broad range of events including academic conferences, research seminars, workshops, recruitment events and distinguished speaker engagements. You will work in close partnership with academic colleagues and professional services teams, ensuring the highest standards of event planning, compliance, financial oversight and service delivery. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on operational management.
Key responsibilities:
- Oversee the delivery of all academic events, ensuring professionalism, efficiency and compliance.
- Lead the full lifecycle of events, from concept through delivery to evaluation.
- Manage event budgets, forecasting and financial reporting.
- Develop an events communications strategy in collaboration with the Marketing Team.
- Line manage the Academic Events Coordinator and Academic Events Assistant.
You will have significant and demonstrable expertise in events management. You will bring outstanding organisational and planning skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively and meet deadlines in a complex and fast-paced environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, alongside excellent customer service and a professional manner.
