An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Lecturer to join Norwich Medical School to deliver lectures and seminars and carry out teaching-related duties.

The role centres on the teaching, assessment, and support of undergraduate medical and pre-medical students. You will primarily support the BSc Clinical Sciences course, aimed at pre-clinical training of overseas fee-paying students, and may also undertake teaching on the MB BS course.

All lecturers also act as personal advisers to students (pastoral role) and undertake medical student selection interviews.

The post is focused on teaching clinical communication skills to international pre-medical students, to develop their verbal and non-verbal communication and to introduce students to the dynamics of the doctor-patient relationship. You will also support students’ development of reflective practice and lead small-group tutorials designed to build confidence, teamwork, and verbal communication skills.

Teaching will be closely aligned with parallel modules covering fundamental science, requiring close teamwork with these Module Leads.

As part of this role, you will be enrolled to take our Certificate in Higher Education Practice (from UEA), or in Clinical Education, if you do not already hold a relevant teaching qualification. All ATS staff are required to undertake Enterprise and Engagement activity to enhance the school’s reputation externally. Any additional teaching or administrative roles will be agreed with the Head of the Department of Medical Education. Working days will be arranged with the successful applicant.

A Primary Medical qualification, with experience of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and student assessment at all levels including coursework, examinations and undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations is essential. Supervision experience at postgraduate level and experience in relevant enterprise and engagement activities would be advantageous.

This part-time (0.4 FTE) post is available from 1 June 2026 on an indefinite basis.

Further information on our great benefits package, including 44 days annual leave inclusive of Bank Holidays and additional University Customary days (pro rata for part-time), can be found on our benefits page.

Closing date: 8 April 2026

The University holds an Athena Swan Silver Institutional Award in recognition of our advancement towards gender equality.
