Birmingham Newman University is seeking to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Business Management to join the School of Business and Law on a two-year fixed-term contract. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the continued growth and development of Business Management provision across foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality teaching and supporting a student-centred academic environment that aligns with the University’s mission and values.

The post holder will contribute to the design, development and delivery of engaging and contemporary Business Management modules. Teaching will span a broad range of subject areas and levels, reflecting the interdisciplinary and applied nature of the School’s portfolio. You will ensure learning and teaching activities are informed by current academic knowledge, professional practice and industry expectations, supporting students to develop both academic capability and employability skills. You will also contribute to the ongoing review and enhancement of curriculum design, incorporating innovative teaching approaches and technology-enhanced learning methods to support student engagement and achievement.

Supporting student success is central to the role. The postholder will undertake academic personal tutoring, providing guidance that supports students’ academic progress, personal development and career aspirations. You will contribute to initiatives designed to improve student outcomes, continuation and attainment, ensuring that students from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds are supported to achieve their potential. You will engage in activities that enhance graduate employability, including embedding career development skills within the curriculum and maintaining engagement with employers and external stakeholders.

The role involves active engagement with quality assurance and enhancement processes. You will contribute to module evaluation, assessment design and moderation processes, and the maintenance of academic standards in line with University and sector expectations. Participation in programme, subject and School-level meetings and committees is required, alongside wider engagement in the academic community.

The postholder will also support the School’s collaborative partnership provision. This includes working with Further and Higher Education partners in the delivery of programmes and contributing to partnership activities that support student experience and academic quality. The role may involve delivery of teaching or academic duties off-site, and will include working some evenings and weekends, to support learning and teaching, recruitment, outreach and partnership engagement.

Engagement in recruitment, outreach and conversion activity is required. The postholder will contribute to activities that promote Business Management programmes, support prospective students and represent the University at internal and external events. You will also contribute to strengthening external relationships with employers, professional networks and community organisations to support curriculum relevance and graduate outcomes.

This is an opportunity to contribute to a supportive and forward-thinking academic environment, working collaboratively to deliver high-quality and professionally relevant Business Management education.
