About the Role

The postholder will lead and deliver high-quality, internationally competitive research focused on ageing, frailty, multimorbidity, rehabilitation, or the care of older people, while contributing to teaching and curriculum development within the Wolfson Institute of Population Health.

This 0.5 FTE academic role is designed to support a portfolio career. Where appropriate, flexibility will be offered to enable ongoing clinical sessions in primary care or public health.

About You

We are seeking an ambitious clinical academic with:

  • A PhD (or equivalent) relevant to primary care or public health, relevant to ageing and/or older people’s care
  • A strong track record of high-quality publications
  • Experience of research-led teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level
  • A clear and compelling future research vision
  • Demonstrable ability to develop funding proposals
  • Clinical registration with the GMC and/or UKPHR (as appropriate), and wide clinical knowledge in ageing and care of older people
  • Understanding of clinical governance and patient safety
  • Higher education teaching accreditation and relevant Royal College membership are desirable

About the School/Department/Institute/Project

The Academic Centre for Healthy Ageing (ACHA) is a £6 million collaboration between Barts Health NHS Trust and QMUL, based at Whipps Cross Hospital. It aims to transform care for older people through applied research in frailty prevention, rehabilitation, dementia and mental health, embedding research within frontline services. You will join our senior academic team which comprises professors in care of older people, liaison psychiatry and orthopeadics. By combining multidisciplinary expertise with powerful electronic health data resources, ACHA seeks to generate practice-changing evidence and build a world-class workforce focused on healthy ageing.
