We have an exciting opportunity for a Student Engagement Coach to join our Student Services directorate, here at the University of Huddersfield. It is an exciting time to join Student Services, as we continue to grow in the range of support, information, advice, and guidance we offer to our diverse community of students. This is a fast-paced, dynamic service, which requires individuals who put customers at the heart of everything they do.
Your role will involve working as part of an experienced coaching and administration team to facilitate excellent support for our students. You will help students to identify the barriers to their learning and manage these so that they can better concentrate on their academic work.
You will also help students struggling with low attendance and engagement in their courses. You will work with the team to interpret data that highlights students who may benefit from further support during their studies and initiate contact with the student. You will meet with students daily to offer support and guidance, alongside responding to students’ emails and signposting to wider university professionals, as necessary to support the students’ successful re-engagement.
You will be an organised, experienced and motivated professional with the capability to deal with a varied and complex workload. A great team player, you will be able to develop effective working relationships with colleagues at all levels and be flexible to adapt to changing circumstances. Your previous experience will have involved using both bespoke IT systems and Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Teams) to deliver outstanding customer service to all.
This is a fixed-term appointment for 12 months, however, as the post is linked to a maternity absence, the end date is subject to change.
We offer an excellent employment package, including hybrid working, blending a mix of on-campus and remote working where duties and team cover allow.
The University is deeply committed to equality and diversity for all its students and staff. We seek to be diverse and inclusive, supporting individuals and groups to fulfil their potential and nurture a sense of belonging. We strive to be an accessible, inclusive employer, removing barriers for all. Find out more about our approach to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, including our commitments and accreditations as a Disability Confident Leader, Stonewall Gold Award holder, Top 100 Employer, Athena SWAN Bronze Award holder and Race Equality Charter Bronze Award holder.
