Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences (NDCN), John Radcliffe Hospital, Headington, Oxford, OX3 9DU

Betina Ip’s Group, part of the Oxford University Centre for Integrative Neuroimaging, Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences, seeks a Research Assistant to support high-resolution neuroimaging studies to investigate systemic effects of visual and circadian influences on the human brain. The position is funded by a Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Research Fellowship to Dr Betina Ip.

The RA will work closely with the other members of the research team on all aspects of this study. The RA will help in project development, write and administer all ethical approvals for ongoing studies in the group, ensuring that information is communicated, logged and up-to-date. The post-holder will be responsible for recruitment and will be actively involved in all aspects of data collection, including scheduling and running MRI scan sessions and behavioural testing sessions, as well as data analysis.

Since the project is themed around circadian rhythms, the actual data collection sessions may involve early or late hours or weekends. The RA will need to have a flexible work schedule. More generally, the RA will be expected to pro-actively organise and attend progress meetings with the PI, participate in lab meetings and other activities within Betina Ip’s Group. The RA will be based at the OxCIN-FMRIB site, Headington, Oxford. The RA provides advice and guidance to research students where appropriate.

The position is an excellent opportunity for a candidate interested in gaining research experience in a neuroimaging environment with a translational focus and for individuals interested in pursuing a doctorate degree. There will also be opportunities to benefit from the extensive training courses available both within the department and wider University.

Please see the below 'Job Description' for further details on the role, responsibilities, and selection criteria, as well as further information about the university and how to apply.

This post is full time and fixed term for 12 months in the first instance.

Interviews will be held as soon as possible thereafter.
