We have an exciting opportunity in the School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering for someone with a passion for advanced combustion diagnostics who is looking to use their skills in the combustion study of sustainable aviation fuels.

You will be joining the Energy 2050 research team in a large and diverse academic School working within a team of world-leading scientists with over 50 research fellows and PhD students. The key aspects of the role include carrying out a detailed research programme focusing on the investigation of local and global extinction of bluff-body swirl spray flames of sustainable aviation fuels. This work involves utilising laser diagnostic and/or numerical tools to characterise combustion species, flame temperature, flow field in turbulent swirl flames. This also includes shock tube measurements and chemical kinetics modelling specific to SAF fuels. Throughout this project the applicant is expected to publish work in high-quality peer-reviewed journals, as well as attending conferences and seminars.

As a Research Associate, you will be part of the Energy 2050 research team in a large and diverse academic School at the University of Sheffield.
