Founded in 1882, The Royal College of Music (RCM) is a world leading music conservatoire with a prestigious history and contemporary outlook. Our excellence was recognised by the 2025 QS World University Rankings, in which we were ranked as the global No. 1 institution for both Music and Performing Arts. The College has held this world-leading place in Performing Arts for the four successive years, while Music is a new subject introduced to the rankings in 2024.
The Royal College of Music (RCM) is seeking an inspiring and highly skilled Vocal Studies professor to join our world‑leading Vocal & Opera Faculty. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with exceptional young singers from around the globe, helping them to realise their artistic and technical potential.
As a key member of our professorial team, you will deliver outstanding one‑to‑one vocal teaching and occasionally group coaching. You will bring a passion for nurturing talent, a deep understanding of vocal pedagogy, and the ability to guide students in developing healthy, expressive, and resilient vocal technique.
We are looking for an accomplished teacher with experience working with gifted students at undergraduate and postgraduate level—ideally within a conservatoire environment. Excellent communication skills, empathy, and a collaborative mindset are essential, as is a strong awareness of the demands of the contemporary music profession.
If you are committed to fostering the next generation of vocal artists and contributing to the RCM’s reputation for excellence, we would love to hear from you.
This post is offered on a permanent, part-time basis and is available from September 2026.
