The UK is experiencing a growing population health challenge – an ageing society, stalling life expectancy, increasing health inequality and a growing number of people living with a major illness. Meanwhile, approximately 40% of chronic disease deaths globally are directly linked to just four products manufactured by transnational corporations: tobacco, ultra-processed foods, alcohol and fossil fuels.
The Local Health Global Profits research consortium brings together researchers with local governments, public health practitioners, civil society organisations and local populations to understand the factors that impact on population health and the effective, scalable interventions to tackle them.
