Fuyao University of Science and Technology (FYUST) is a new private research university located in Fuzhou, China. It was established with the generous donation of a globally renowned entrepreneur Mr. CAO Tak Wong, officially approved by the Ministry of Education in February 2025.

About School

School of Vehicles and Intelligent Transportation (SVIT) builds a world-class platform for vehicle engineering and intelligent transportation. The school offers undergraduate programs in Intelligent Vehicle Engineering. Upholding the talent cultivation philosophy of “research-oriented, individualized and elite-focused”, it has established a distinctive education innovation system and developed a number of first-class elite courses in vehicle engineering and intelligent transportation. The school has jointly built practical innovation bases with enterprises, aiming to cultivate elite talents and outstanding engineers in the fields of vehicle engineering and intelligent transportation with solid theoretical foundation, proficient practical skills and innovative thinking.

Research fields include: human factors in vibro-acoustics engineering, intelligent vibration and noise reduction, autonomous driving and automotive electronics, artificial intelligence technology and applications, electrification and intelligence of new energy vehicles, lightweight design and crash safety, digital twin and CFD/CAE technology, marine vehicle technology, 3D transportation and smart cities, traffic safety and behaviour, etc.

The school has established with the Key Laboratory of Human Factors Engineering and Intelligent Vibration & Noise Reduction, approved by the Ministry of Education, and a Joint Laboratory of Automotive Wireless Communication and Intelligent Driving in collaboration with Automotive Industry, together with the laboratories in the afore-mentioned research fields.

Responsibilities

Full Professor Responsibilities

  • Provide intellectual and research leadership within the school and discipline.
  • Lead high-impact, long-term research programs and secure major grants.
  • Mentor PhD students, postdocs, and tenure-track faculty.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses; develop advanced curricula
  • Serve in senior leadership roles: program director, centre director, graduate program director
  • Lead strategic planning, accreditation, and academic policy development
  • Take on high-level service: journal editor, conference chair, national committee roles 

Associate Professor Responsibilities:

  • Teach and develop undergraduate/graduate curricula and academic programs.
  • Mentor undergraduate, master’s, and PhD students; supervise thesis and dissertation research
  • Lead independent research programs with sustained high-quality publications and external funding.
  • Pursue external research grants and manage research projects
  • Provide academic leadership: lead degree programs, or coordinate school initiatives
  • Mentor junior faculty, and teaching assistants
  • Participate in outreach, industry collaboration, or public engagement
  • Maintain excellence in research, teaching, and service for advancement. 

Assistant Professor Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses; develop syllabi, course materials, and assessments.
  • Advise undergraduate and graduate students on academic and career goals
  • Conduct independent, original research in the field
  • Write grant proposals to secure research funding
  • Publish research in peer‑reviewed journals and present at conferences
  • Contribute to program development and university outreach
  • Maintain professional activity and scholarly productivity for advancement. 

Requirement for Full Professor

  • PhD or equivalent terminal degree
  • Outstanding, national/international reputation in the field
  • Sustained high-impact research and scholarly leadership
  • Exemplary teaching, mentoring, and student success
  • Strong record of external funding and project leadership
  • Significant leadership in service, discipline, or university administration
  • Mentorship of junior faculty and postdoctoral researchers
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills. 

Requirement for Associate Professor

  • PhD or equivalent terminal degree
  • Established research record with sustained publications
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentoring
  • Evidence of ability to secure external grants, funding, or creative projects
  • Independent research program with regional/national recognition
  • Experience in academic service and committee work
  • Ability to pursue external funding 

Requirement for Assistant Professor

  • PhD or equivalent terminal degree
  • Potential for high-quality research and early publications
  • Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses
  • Commitment to academic service and mentoring
  • Potential to develop independent research program
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Postdoctoral or relevant academic/professional experience.
  • Record of successful grant writing or external funding.
  • Experience with interdisciplinary research or industry partnerships. 

Compensation and Benefits: 

  • Starting annual salary: Assistant Professor: £43k; Associate Professor: £65k; Professor: £76k; Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
  • Research support: Startup and ongoing research funding (case-by-case based on profile)
