About the role:
Imperial currently ranks as the 2nd best University in the world and 1st one in the UK and Europe. Bioengineering is a fast-paced multi-disciplinary department at the forefront of its field, currently with laboratories in South Kensington and White City campuses.
The Analytical Lab Technician post will support the research group led by Rodrigo Ledesma-Amaro. The RLA Lab (www.rlalab.org) focuses on the use of microorganisms to convert renewable feedstocks into valuable products, contributing to the development of more sustainable biomanufacturing processes.
What you would be doing:
You will provide practical technical support to the laboratory, helping to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of facilities. Key duties will include assisting with the operation, routine maintenance, and cleaning of laboratory equipment, including analytical instruments such as HPLCs, GCs, and LC-MSs. The role will also involve supporting ongoing research activities, preparing materials and reagents, and assisting with experimental set-up as directed by senior staff.
You will contribute to health and safety compliance, including supporting risk assessments, maintaining records, and assisting with laboratory waste management and general housekeeping. All activities will be carried out in accordance with established procedures, good laboratory practice, and departmental guidance.

The ideal candidate will have a background or training in laboratory techniques, analytical chemistry, bioprocessing, or a related discipline, with a willingness to learn and develop technical skills. The role offers the opportunity to work within a collaborative research environment and gain hands-on experience supporting cutting-edge research in bioengineering and sustainability.
