Main duties and responsibilities
The role involves managing the international office sales function to support the delivery of the University’s international strategy. This includes overseeing the International Recruitment Team, Regional Sales Managers/Teams, and Overseas Sales Offices, while developing sales strategies and plans that meet regional and institutional recruitment targets. The Head of International Recruitment is responsible for the day-to-day management and operation of the Sales Team and will manage on a daily basis a substantial and complex budget, ensuring compliance with University practice in this area.
The role also requires close collaboration with internal departments such as Admissions teams, Conversion teams, and central university departments to identify opportunities for sales process improvement and to inspect sales process quality and prioritise opportunities for improvement. In addition, the position involves developing and managing a range of recruitment channels including agents, foundation pathway providers and partnerships ensuring recruitment opportunities are optimised, monitoring and reporting progress on an ongoing basis. You will represent the University at conferences and external events, and undertake international travel in support of the work of the international office and achievement of regional recruitment targets.
Skills and experience required
You will have a successful track record of working in international student experience, experience of working in a sales/telemarketing environment and experience of working in sales in both a commercial and public sector environment. Experience identifying and developing new markets and approaches for student recruitment is essential as is experience of developing overseas student recruitment channels such as agent networks. Knowledge and experience of the use of relevant admissions and CRM systems to assist international recruitment is essential, alongside experience setting, monitoring, working to and achieving recruitment targets.
The position also demands good communication skills with excellent presentation and interpersonal skills. You will be commercial focussed, capable of delivering results in a cost-effective manner with the ability to plan and manage own activities effectively and deal with sensitive material with strict confidentiality. Strong management and leadership skills are essential as is the ability to be decisive, especially when under pressure. You will be sales driven and motivated by a target-based culture and be results/target driven in your working approach.
Qualifications required
You will be educated with a minimum of a Degree or equivalent, or proven experience. A master’s degree or equivalent, or proven experience is considered desirable.
