Description of Post

The Department of Engineering Apprenticeships delivers Refrigeration & Air Conditioning apprenticeship training.

The department seeks a Technical Officer in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Technology. The post-holder will join a growing professional team and take a strong role in the planning, operation, and maintenance of facilities and equipment which are used to support the delivery of modules associated with the programmes delivered in the Department/School.

The successful candidate will be expected to be a self-starter and identify their development needs in relation to new equipment and technologies. Continuing staff development is encouraged and funded in this context.

Providing technical support to undergraduate and post-graduate students and academics in the Faculty of Engineering and Technology.

Essential�Qualifications

Candidates must have:

• A Primary Honours Degree (Level 8) or equivalent * as specified in the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) or equivalent.
• At least three years relevant postgraduate experience at an appropriate level.
• Ability to take initiative, give leadership and work with people.
• Good organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to provide on the job learning and coaching of other staff.
• Good technical knowledge in designate area.
• Good knowledge of Health and Safety legislation.
• Evidence of personal development through further skills development.

*Advanced Certificate � Level 6 Craft Refrigeration & Air Conditioning or equivalent
