Background and context

The Higher Education sector continues to provide a stimulating yet challenging environment as we look to meet the everchanging demands of a student led and market orientated world.

The importance for the University Commercial Services and its facilities has never been higher, given its value in attracting prospective students and providing the best possible experience for our students, researchers, staff and visitors. Equally, our retail, conference and events facilities have seen considerable investment over recent years to ensure we are market leading and have the ability to deliver first class products and customer service.

The Middleton Halls is a 406 seat auditorium and concert hall, hosting a variety of concerts and events. It is used as the main conference auditorium during campus wide conferences. The hall is fitted with a digital cinema system, TV recording and streaming facilities, full 5.1 surround system and intelligent lighting rig.

Canham Turner is the universities conference and dining facility, hosting events, dinners, conferences, exhibitions, it is also used as a staff training facility.

Summary

Purpose of the role

Working along the technical team to provide technical and physical assistance, preparing areas for the arrival of all events in Middleton Hall and Canham Turner.

Support Events Coordinators and Technician in Duty management tasks and FOH management to ensure smooth arrival and departure of all events along with compliance with all venue health and safety policies and regulations. Ensuring any connections and equipment that is set up is electrically and mechanically safe and health and safety standards.

Complete space set ups as required, including but not limited to seating, staging and furniture in Middleton Hall and Canham Turner.
