We are seeking a highly organised and efficient individual to join the Faculty of History Postgraduate Team as PhD Administrator. This role provides essential administrative support to PhD students and academic staff, contributing to the smooth running of key processes throughout the academic year.
The Faculty of History's 100 academic staff constitute one of the largest and best history departments in the world. Over 600 undergraduates study History at Cambridge. The Faculty also offers full and part-time PhD programmes, and eight field-specific one-year MPhil courses. At any one time the Faculty's postgraduate student population numbers 350 to 400.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a busy environment with a mixture of independent tasks and light student facing interaction. Strong communication skills and the ability to respond professionally to enquiries are essential as the post holder will be a point of contact for students, supervisors, and colleagues across the Faculty.
Confidence using digital tools is a requirement, as much of the work involves managing email, SharePoint, online systems, trackers, and student records. Excellent attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple deadlines, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and student management are keys to success in this role.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who enjoys varied administrative work, values accuracy, and thrives in a supportive, collaborative team.
Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment.
