PACE at the University of Cambridge has a growing reputation for the teaching of creative writing and a strong record of alumni achievement. A number of our graduates have produced significant publications, won writing prizes and had shows produced on stage and screen. Many former students have progressed to doctoral study.

We wish to appoint two part-time Teaching Associates at 0.5 FTE to contribute to the expanding MSt in Creative Writing and our portfolio of award-bearing and short course creative writing programmes.

PACE creative writing teaching is delivered both in person and online. Weekend courses and summer courses are taught in Cambridge while undergraduate award-bearing courses and short courses are delivered via online provision. The MSt in Creative Writing is taught on a low-residency model over regularly scheduled weeks in Cambridge. The roles will be compatible with hybrid working but there will be an expectation of in-person attendance as required.

Candidates should be published writers with broad experience of teaching creative writing in higher education. It is desirable though not essential that they should hold a PhD or MFA in Creative Writing. They will be committed to further developing knowledge of their subject areas and to maintaining a creative practice in their fields of expertise.

The successful applicants will have experience of contributing to curriculum design and assessment. They will have a learner-centred approach to teaching and experience of supervising students from diverse backgrounds. They will be capable of leading courses and initiatives. Experience of teaching adults and mature students is desirable and a commitment to lifelong learning essential.
