Summary

We are seeking an experienced educator to join our Keele-BFSU BA Programme in International Governance and Public Policy, delivering foundation-year ESL and academic skills modules in Beijing, starting in September 2026. Our dual-degree programme has been running since 2018, attracting high-achieving students who continue their third-year studies at Keele University campus in the UK before returning to Beijing Foreign Studies University for their final year. Details of Position

The foundation year is our students’ first year at university, and teaching comprises of a range of subjects, including applied English skills, general study skills, academic writing, and critical thinking skills to prepare students for the start of their undergraduate degree course. This full-time teaching role based in Beijing involves a maximum of 20 teaching periods per week (Monday to Friday), with each period lasting 45 minutes. We have two 12-week semesters per year, followed by an assessment period and several weeks of marking. We pride ourselves on having a high level of staff retention and we are committed to continuing professional development.

Qualifications

Candidates must hold a postgraduate degree, a CELTA (or equivalent TEFL qualification), and have at least two years of teaching experience. Applicants should demonstrate a reflective approach to teaching in their application. Experience of the UK higher education system and of working in, or with, students from the Chinese tertiary education sector will be an advantage. In order to fulfil the requirements for the Chinese work visa, applicants must hold a passport from a recognised English-speaking country.

Salary and Benefits

We are offering a competitive salary, along with health insurance, flights to and from Beijing and an apartment on campus or a monthly housing allowance. Contracts are initially for 10 months, but renewable and we are seeking staff members who wish to commit longer term (subject to fulfilling the requirement for a Chinese work visa). You will be employed by Overseas Education Investment Management, a professional education services company with a strong track record of delivering UK degree programmes in China, and be appointed as a tutor at BFSU and an associate tutor at Keele. We offer all full-time staff the opportunity to study for a fully funded Postgraduate Certificate in International Education (PGCIE), as well as a full MA in Education.
