About the role:
Are you a Management Accountant with expertise in Month end processes (Accruals, prepayments, deferred income, journals and staff costs transfers) and looking for a new challenge?
The Management Reporting team provides financial insight, analysis, and reporting to support decision making across the University.
We are looking to appoint a Reporting Analyst to join the University’s Management Reporting team on a 12-month fixed term contract. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the month end process and preparing the budgets and forecasts for several support service areas, ready for review by the business partner.
The successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders across a range of functions.
In addition, the role will support on Oracle Fusion activities across both pre and post‑implementation phases, including User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Hypercare.
What you would be doing:
- Perform the month-end close process (Accruals, prepayments, deferred income, journals, staff costs transfers, other amendments), ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled.
- Act as a point of contact for operational managers. Expected to use technical skills and professional experience to provide accountancy support and financial advice to department managers.
- Undertake quarterly reconciliations to ensure the quarterly accounts present a true and fair view and take follow-up action to correct any variances.
- Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Work closely with the Senior Finance Business Partners and the Head of Management Reporting to ensure accuracy of month end management reports.
- Act as support for addressing Oracle Fusion needs across pre and postimplementation phases including User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Hypercare.
- Perform ad hoc BAU financial analysis and reporting and support on projects as required by management.
What we are looking for:
- Part-qualified accountant in ACCA, CIMA or other appropriate accounting qualification.
- Hold experience of working in a similar management accounting role.
- Experience of working closely with senior members of staff.
- Knowledge of Operational Finance & Finance Systems (ideally Oracle and Essbase).
- Proven ability to work within a complex financial environment.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Due to the fixed term nature of this role, ideally we are looking for an immediate start.
