This 30-month (with the possibility of further 30-month extension) research project will investigate the conversion of biomass derivatives with zeolites, with a focus on in-situ /operando and neutron scattering techniques. The project has four strands; zeolite synthesis and deuteration, diffusion measurement, vibrational spectroscopy of sorbed species and computational modelling. This position will focus on the experimental characterisation but will require close collaboration with the ISIS deuteration laboratory and collaborators at Bath University for the synthesis and modelling portions of the project.
You will also be encouraged to engage with the broader Catalysis Hub community to develop projects involving the use of neutron scattering techniques.
Please note that this position will be based in Harwell, Oxfordshire.
The postholder will hold a PhD or equivalent degree in chemistry, physics, materials science or closely related subject. He or she will be proficient in spoken and written English with extensive experience in scientific instrument maintenance, development, data acquisition and control software operation/development, and a broad understanding of the field of catalysis
