About the role
The Biology Department seeks a Department Office Administrator to join the busy Department Office team. The Department of Biology is structured into research sections that bring together staff with shared scientific interests. These sections are designed to strengthen research excellence, foster collaboration, and support a vibrant, interdisciplinary research community. The Department Office Administrators assist the Head of Department, the senior academic management team and the Head of Administration and Finance as well as providing general administrative support for the Department Office and the research sections.
About you
We are looking for a highly organised individual with excellent attention to detail, strong administrative and numeracy skills, and confidence working to deadlines. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint, with experience in workflow automation (e.g., Power Automate) and routine financial administration. You should be comfortable working within established processes while identifying opportunities for improvement, and demonstrate a strong commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion, and wellbeing.
