We are currently recruiting for one Student Support Coordinator within our Student Support and Triage Team. This role is fixed‑term until April 2027 and is based at our Frenchay Campus. As part of the team, you will contribute to our daytime provision, which operates between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday.
Student Support Coordinators form a key part of our initial response to student enquiries, ensuring that students - particularly those disclosing complex situations or vulnerabilities - are heard, understood, and responded to effectively. Coordinators, who are experts in risk assessment, respond to enquiries as close as possible to the point of request, ensuring issues are owned and resolved by the University through effective triage and collaboration with relevant colleagues, agencies, or third parties.
Foundational to this role is the ability to listen, assess, and reassure service users before initiating or coordinating an effective response—one that reduces or removes vulnerability in relation to academic failure, withdrawal, distress, or personal harm. The team adopts a coaching approach to build resilience within the student community, ensuring students are fully engaged in their own solutions.
About you:
You bring knowledge and understanding of best practice in risk assessment, triage, and customer care. You adopt a collaborative way of working and use a coaching approach that connects into the resourcefulness and expertise of Professional Services, Academic Teams, and NHS partners.
You are resilient, you enjoy working at pace and are comfortable with complexity and uncertainty. You can work effectively within a high‑volume, fast‑paced team, demonstrating strong organisational and prioritisation skills under pressure. You have excellent communication and influencing skills and quickly establish credibility with staff at all levels. You are passionate about higher education and can inspire colleagues, individually and collectively to deliver the best possible support for students.
