Assistant Professor in Work, Organizational, and Business Psychology (all genders) Full-time (40 h/w) in Vienna, Austria

In response to its continuous growth, Modul University Vienna is seeking a scholar for an Assistant Professor position with outstanding qualifications in the field of Work, Organizational, and Business Psychology with an interest in Human Resources Management.

The position is integrated in the School of International Management, and the applicants are supposed to conduct cutting-edge research in the field of Work, Organizational, and Business Psychology with a focus on Human Resources Management to support the development of the University’s new undergraduate program in this area and to teach undergraduate and graduate courses (see study programmes). This is a full-time position for applicants who are willing to work 40 hours per week initially limited two years with the opportunity to be promoted to Associate Professor after having passed the habilitation procedure.

Candidates are expected to engage in the existing research program at Modul University Vienna but should also bring their own research agenda to get involved in research projects. Experience in grant application writing is highly appreciated. Furthermore, candidates are expected to become active in research cooperation in and outside the University. Teaching responsibilities shall include courses in Work, Organizational and Business Psychology, and Human Resources Management.

Desired skills and essential qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in research and teaching, possess a comprehensive understanding of widely used concepts and methodology of selected topics in the area of Work, Organizational, and Business Psychology. Therefore, candidates should have a record of or clear potential for excellent research and student mentorship.

The successful candidate is expected to have outstanding qualifications:

  • A doctoral degree or PhD in Psychology, HR Management or a related field;
  • Evidence of research potential, including a strong research focus, the capability of publishing in top-tier journals in the respective field;
  • Strong methods skills (qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods);
  • Commitment to high-quality teaching;
  • Ability to attract external funding to support research programs and to successfully build collaborative research programs with other universities, research institutes, and industry;
  • Excellent spoken and written English language skills, proficiency in German language is not required but welcome.

Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will teach courses in undergraduate and graduate programs offered by Modul University Vienna. The teaching load for this position is 10 units/week per semester (1 unit = 45 minutes of teaching). The actual teaching load is negotiable subject to ongoing third-party funded projects or to a strong grant application pipeline. The new colleague will be expected to further develop her/his research agenda in the area of Work, Organizational, and Business Psychology and Human Resources

Management. Besides engagement in teaching and research, the candidate is expected to contribute to administrative and academic services and to be interested in outreach activities. Within the School the successful candidate is invited to contribute to the School’s engagement activities.

Remuneration

  • The initial annual gross salary is EUR 68,500 before taxes (plus approx. 30% Arbeitgeberanteil = contribution to the social security and pension fund paid by the employer according to Austrian Law). The University offers opportunities for additional remuneration for extra teaching and outstanding scholarships.
