About the role:
Imperial College London is recruiting an Assistant or Associate Professor in Computational Cardiovascular Medicine to establish and lead an independent research programme in cardiovascular digital twins, computational modelling, and AI-enabled clinical prediction.
You will join the National Heart and Lung Institute and collaborate with Professor Steven Niederer’s group and clinical partners across Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust to translate mechanistic cardiovascular modelling into clinical applications.
The National Heart and Lung Institute (NHLI) is already recognised internationally for advancing digital health, and this role will strengthen one of our fastest-growing strategic research areas. The role will also contribute to the British Heart Foundation Centre of Research Excellence strategy to expand capacity in computational modelling and digital health, strengthen collaboration with the NHS and industry, and accelerate translational innovation.
What you would be doing:
You will help translate digital twin science into improved diagnosis, stratification, therapy planning and drug/device assessment. As an academic lead in cardiovascular digital twins you will support the development of research platforms for applications including ablation planning, heart-failure therapies, and digital-first clinical evaluation.
The role sits within Imperial’s growing ecosystem for cardiovascular digital twins, integrating advanced imaging, physiological measurement, machine learning, and high-performance computational modelling. You will work with cardiology, cardiac electrophysiology, imaging, and biomedical engineering teams to develop clinically actionable computational models for diagnosis, therapy planning, and drug or device evaluation.
You will develop and lead a research programme in computational cardiovascular medicine aligned with Imperial’s strategy in digital health and in-silico medicine. In addition, you will teach and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students and foster national and international scientific collaborations with other world-leading centres.
