This full-time (1.0FTE) post is available from May 2026 on a fixed term basis until February 2027.
Summary of the role:
This exciting, fixed-term, full time, technician role is available immediately in Technical Strategy & Operations (TS&O), within the Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy (ESE), based on the Tremough campus in Penryn. The primary responsibility of the role-holder is to support the initial delivery of the Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials (NORM) and asbestiform laboratory, supporting academic leads with specialist knowledge of the handling and processing of NORM and asbestiform containing minerals. The role will also support the delivery of academic research and commercial contracts where appropriate.
The post-holder will be required to have experience in managing, setting up, running, and troubleshooting laboratory equipment. In addition, the role-holder will be required to carry out local inductions and training, offer advice on appropriate sample preparation techniques and instrumentation to meet the lab user’s needs. The post-holder will support the implementation of the Universities health and safety and sustainability policies and champion best practice in these areas.
