The Faculty of Classics is seeking to appoint a fixed-term Assistant Professor in Classical Linguistics and Comparative Philology from 1 September 2026 (or as soon as possible thereafter) for three years. Applications are invited from those with a primary research interest in Classical Linguistics and Comparative Philology: linguistics of the Greek language, linguistics of the Latin language, the comparative philology of the Indo-European languages with special reference to Greek and Latin. The successful applicant will benefit from the world-class facilities offered by the University and the generous support of research and teaching provided by the Faculty. The successful candidate will be expected to take a full share of teaching and examining in Classical Linguistics and Comparative Philology at all levels from beginners to postgraduates, including the recruitment and supervision of graduate students, and to assist in administration as appropriate.
