Applications are invited for the role of Faculty Coordinator in the Faculty of English.

The postholder will work closely with senior management and academic staff to support research and governance, particularly via planning and resources, trust fund and research committees.

About the Role

The role oversees the daily running of faculty activities and manages specific research support budgets. They monitor expenditure, compile draft budgets for approval, and account for variances while keeping management informed of concerns such as overspending. The role ensures compliance with university financial procedures, oversees invoices and purchase orders. The postholder advises on research funders, university policy, service development, and changes to research activities. They support the research committee by preparing reports, developing systems, maintaining databases, and analysing research data. The role includes advising Principal Investigators throughout the lifecycle of research awards. The postholder responds to academic enquiries, interprets university and faculty policies, engages with central administrative units, and circulates key notices. They also organise Standing Committee meetings, prepare documentation, produce minutes, and follow up on actions. 

About You

Educated to Degree level/Level 6 vocational qualifications or equivalent level of practical experience, the right candidate would be able to demonstrate advanced knowledge of administration involving a critical understanding of relevant theory and/or principles, excellent organisational skills and ability to work pro-actively, with minimal supervision, using own initiative to manage a varied workload. The ideal candidate would have significant administrative experience preferably in a higher education setting and experience of developing/reviewing administrative processes and systems.
