We are seeking an organised and proactive Postgraduate Student Administrator to support research degree programmes across a cluster of departments including Genomic Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Radiology and Surgery.
Working alongside a part-time colleague, the postholder will deliver a seamless administrative service across the full postgraduate student lifecycle from recruitment and admissions through to progression, assessment and completion. This is a varied and collaborative role, requiring strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to build effective working relationships.
The postholder will act as a first point of contact for postgraduate students, applicants and academic staff, providing clear guidance and support on processes and procedures. They will be responsible for administering degree programmes using University systems (including CamSIS), coordinating admissions and interviews, supporting funding processes, and organising induction and researcher development activities.
A key aspect of the role involves managing student records and processes such as probationary assessments, annual progress reviews and viva examinations, ensuring all activity is delivered accurately and in line with University requirements. The role also includes maintaining course information (including prospectus entries), responding to enquiries, and supporting the promotion of postgraduate opportunities.
The postholder will act as secretary to the Cluster's Postgraduate Student Committee, coordinating meetings, preparing agendas, taking minutes and ensuring actions are followed through. They will also contribute to reporting and data management, maintaining accurate databases and producing standard reports to support decision-making.
The role involves close collaboration with colleagues across the Cluster, including providing support and cover for the wider postgraduate administration team during busy periods. The successful candidate will be educated to at least A-level standard or equivalent and will have experience of maintaining office systems and following administrative procedures.
You will need to be confident using standard IT packages and be able to communicate clearly and professionally with a wide range of people along with the ability to problem solve, prioritise effectively, and remain calm under pressure.
