The King’s Health Partners (KHP) Centre for Translational Medicine (CTM) is a strategic initiative to enhance translational research capabilities across the partnership, support innovation and accelerate better, more equitable outcomes for patients and communities served by KHP and beyond.

The CTM PPIE officer will join the core team of the KHP CTM and be responsible to the CTM PPIE manager. This role will support a variety of exciting and innovative PPIE activities across public involvement and engagement. This will include the coordination of our PPIE Advisory Panel, supporting researchers with PPIE workstreams, development of training, outreach events to engage with the public, building trusted relationships with the diverse community and supporting PPIE work on large strategic funding bids. The role holder will work to ensure the impact of the PPIE work is shared with internal and external stakeholders.  

Throughout this role, the postholder will work closely with other teams across the university such as the King’s Clinical Academic Training Office (KCATO) and the King’s Engaged Researcher Network (KERN).

This is a full time (35 hours per week) role, and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 31st March 2027.

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience: 

Essential criteria

  • Educated to degree level or has relevant work experience
  • Experience in running PPIE activities such as an Advisory Group
  • An in depth understanding of the purpose of public involvement and engagement and best practise including EDI and inclusive research principles, particularly for academic research
  • Excellent ability to engage, communicate and build relationships with individuals of different diversities, age and levels of expertise, including scientists, medical doctors, patients, school children, and artists
  • Experience in the planning and delivery of events and meeting coordination skills
  • Experience of working collaboratively as part of team
  • Ability to work independently and flexibly, managing projects within a complex and evolving environment, meeting deadlines within budget

Desirable criteria

  • Professional qualification related to public engagement/science communication
  • Experience working in the higher education sector
  • Experience of delivering training in public involvement/engagement
