The Role

We’re looking for an inspiring and collaborative leader to play a key role in shaping the future of our Admissions Department. Working closely with the Associate Director for Admissions, fellow Heads of Admissions, and our highly skilled Admissions Managers, you’ll help drive an exceptional applicant experience while supporting the University’s ambitious recruitment goals.

This is an ideal opportunity for a confident communicator with a strong track record in managing high‑performing teams and enhancing service delivery—particularly within a Higher Education setting. Recruitment, Communications and Marketing

The Directorate leads the University’s work to attract, engage, and support prospective students across all markets, while shaping how Sheffield Hallam communicates with its diverse audiences. Our remit is broad and high‑impact, encompassing:

• Strategic communications, including internal and external communications, media relations, and regional and national engagement
• Brand and corporate marketing, including oversight of the University brand, digital presence, and website
• Student marketing, recruitment and admissions, ensuring a seamless and compelling experience from first enquiry to enrolment
• Access and widening participation, including leadership of funded initiatives such as UniConnect
• Schools and colleges engagement, building strong, long‑term relationships with educators and communities
• Events, from large‑scale University occasions to targeted recruitment activities
• Alumni engagement, supporting lifelong relationships with our global graduate community
