Research Assistant

The Department of Experimental Psychology has an exciting opportunity for a Research Assistant to join the Oxford Centre of Emerging Minds Research team working on a project focused on improving help-seeking for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) among ethnic minority adolescents, led by Dr Nina Higson-Sweeney.

The role
The post holder will work to support the project on activities which include supporting recruitment, data collection and analysis for qualitative and quantitative studies. They will also contribute to research publications and presentations, and help to run Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) groups and other participatory projects.

The role is fixed term to 31 January 2028, and available from 3 August 2026. It is a full-time role, working 37.5 hours per week.  However, consideration will be given to part-time working (minimum of 0.6 FTE, 22.5 hours per week).

About you

The successful candidate will hold an undergraduate degree in Psychology or a related discipline, together with some relevant experience (e.g. with clinical populations, with children and young people). They will also have experience of undertaking research using qualitative methodology along with specialist knowledge of OCD and related problems, or child and adolescent mental health, or co-production/participatory research to work within established research programmes. Excellent communication and organisation skills with good attention to detail are required, alongside being able to develop good working relationships within a team.
