About us
The position will be based at the King’s India Institute in the School of Global Affairs, part of the Faculty of Social Science and Public Policy. Established in 2011, our mission is to serve as a world-leading centre for multi-disciplinary research, teaching and public engagement on contemporary India.
The India Institute forms part of the Global Institutes at King’s that specialise in research and teaching across regions of the global south. They include the Africa Leadership Centre, Brazil Institute, Lau China Institute, India Institute, and Menzies Australia Institute in the School of Global Affairs, and the Institute of Middle Eastern Studies and Russia Institute in the School of Politics and Economics.
We host the MSc Global Affairs, a degree taught collaboratively between the Global Institutes, and from 2028 onwards the Global Institutes will also be home to a new BA in International Politics and Technology.
About the role
We are seeking to recruit a Lecturer in Politics and Technology to address current and projected increases in core teaching provision, both for the current MSc Global Affairs, and for module development and delivery for a new BA International Politics and Technology.
The ideal candidate will conduct outstanding research on themes related to political economy broadly defined, including the role of technology in shaping political, economic and development outcomes, with a specialisation in India. They will strengthen our core teaching provision in modules including Introduction to Global Affairs and Introduction to Research Methods, with a particular focus on quantitative methods and the integration of AI-based approaches. Going forward, they will also design and deliver an undergraduate module on a theme related to the political economy of technology in the global south for the BA International Politics and Technology, and will contribute to methods teaching for the BA International Politics and Technology.
