Salary: Competitive starting salary range from £46,115 up to £52,597 per annum (dependent upon experience) with the potential to progress. A discretionary range for candidates with exceptional experience can be discussed/considered

The Role 

As an Assistant Professor (Teaching) in Post Qualifying Nursing, you will be a senior member of the education team and will undertake course and module coordination, alongside teaching and assessment activities. You will support the development and delivery of our postgraduate, and professional programs and other core activities ensuring students have an effective learning experience. 

Based on-site at Coventry University in Coventry, you will work closely with other academic colleagues to enrich the student learning and teaching experience to ensure, as appropriate, relevant aspects of research, enterprise and professional context are embedded in modules and courses. 

Duties include: 

  • Undertaking the role of a course director within the Nursing portfolio.
  • Lead and teach on modules and courses at HE levels 4-7 in relevant academic subject areas including curation, adaptation and creation of module teaching materials, delivering a variety of types of students learning sessions and supporting students as appropriate through informal and formal communication throughout teaching blocks.
  • Leading on the design, implementation, ratification and quality assurance processes related to student assessment.
  • The preparation and dissemination of both generic and specific formative and summative student feedback.
  • Offer supervision for master’s dissertation projects.
  • Supporting course recruitment activities such as open days.
  • Upholding high standards of academic integrity in all aspects of teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Acting as a line manager and mentor to more junior staff. 

Qualifications Required 

  • Active and live registration with the NMC is essential for the role.
  • Experience of supporting others to learn is essential for the role. 
  • A Master’s degree in an appropriate subject is essential for the role.
  • A teaching qualification or extensive experience of delivering professional and/or university education or acceptance of the requirements to acquire one if not already held.
  • PhD would be advantageous

Our Successful Candidate 

You will have strong leadership skills and experience within higher education and/or clinical practice settings.

You will have demonstrable experience of leading successful teaching at higher education levels 4-7 in Nursing with high standards of teaching, learning and student engagement consistent with our reputation and track record as a high-quality provider of teaching and learning.

Enthusiastic and self-motivated, you will have experience leading, enhancing and engaging in an ‘active learning’ pedagogy with evidence in proactively supporting student success.

Innovation and collaboration are key to our success, therefore the ability to work both independently and part of a wider team with the willingness to engage in flexible ways of working are key skills required for this role.
