Are you an experienced engineer or STEM professional who enjoys working collaboratively? We have an exciting opportunity to join us as a Senior Project Engineer in the Machining Group at The University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre.
You will be primarily responsible for the execution of research and developing innovative solutions to manufacturing problems some of which may be in the defence sector. Working as part of a team, you will draw upon your manufacturing experience, researching and trialling new technologies and developing processes which help our customers drive step change improvements in manufacturing performance.
Our work is diverse and exciting and can vary from fundamental research, designing concepts, optimising processes to developing demonstrators. There are superb opportunities for continuous learning and personal development. We are committed to investing in our staff development, exploring flexible working opportunities which benefit the individual and University.
We are seeking candidates who ideally have a good honours degree in an engineering field or equivalent experience in machining. You will also have experience with CAD/CAM software and NC machining hardware and will hold expert knowledge of machining processes and techniques. You will show experience of working effectively and efficiently within both small and large teams. Being creative in the analysis and solving of problems with an appreciation of longer-term implications is also key for this role.
As part of this role, you may have the opportunity to travel, both within the UK and internationally.
