** Background – Based in the Centre for Food Policy within the Department of Population Health and Policy, School of Health and Psychological Sciences, City St George’s, University of London, this Research F ellow post supports the Co‑Centre for Sustainable Food Systems. The role sits within the Trust in Food Systems platform, mapping and analysing food system policies and regulations across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, identifying alignments, trade‑offs and opportunities for greater coherence amid evolving UK–NI–ROI–EU relationships and post‑Brexit trade dynamics.

** Responsibilities – Lead the design and delivery of research for the Co‑Centre’s Trust in Food Systems platform, combining desk-based work, qualitative research and critical policy analysis. Characterise and map food system policies and regulations in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland across local, UK/EU and global levels; identify opportunities to strengthen policy coherence and collaboration; and assess plausible 2050 global futures and related policy needs. Produce project deliverables (reports, papers), support knowledge exchange and stakeholder engagement, and work closely with platform PIs on workplan delivery.

** Person Specification – Completed or near completion of a PhD in a relevant field; strong grounding in food systems and policy, including policy coherence analysis and evidence synthesis. Proven ability to design and deliver mixed‑methods research (systematic reviews, qualitative interviews and policy appraisal), analyse complex policy information, and communicate findings to academic and non‑academic audiences. Excellent written English, collaborative and self‑directed, with stakeholder engagement experience desirable. Commitment to continuous professional development and willingness to travel across the UK and island of Ireland.
