The School of Biological and Chemical Sciences in the College of Science and Engineering at the University of Galway invites applications for Lecturer (contract type A), commencing July 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. Applications are welcome from candidates with strong expertise in teaching in plant and agricultural sciences, and research activities that would complement and strengthen the major thematic research areas of the school (in particular “Sustainable World”).
The post-holder will be expected to coordinate and deliver modules within the multidisciplinary Green Biosciences (Plant & AgriBiosciences) stream of the General Science BSc delivered across the College of Science & Engineering, and in the award-winning MSc in Climate Change, Agriculture & Food Security (MScCCAFS). The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to developing the knowledge and skills of both undergraduate and postgraduate students. The new lecturer will be encouraged to collaborate with research institutes and centres at the University of Galway, including the Ryan Institute, and with other partners of the MScCCAFS, especially the CGIAR international agricultural research institutes.
Located in the West of Ireland, Galway is a highly stimulating environment and ranks highly for quality of life. Furthermore, Ireland is host to a large and vibrant agri-food sector.
