Opportunity Overview
We are seeking to appoint a technician, preferably with recent Prosthetic/Orthotic experience and enthusiasm, to join our team. The post-holder will be required to undertake a variety of daily activities and tasks alongside a team of academic and technical staff.
This role will provide technical and practical support for teaching and learning activities, demonstrating a range of techniques, skills and methods in both traditional and digital technologies across the whole suite of laboratories and other practical spaces.
Key Responsibilities
We are seeking a proactive, highly organised Specialist Technician (Prosthetics and Orthotics) to join the University of Salford's School of Health and Society. You will prepare teaching materials for practical demonstrations, supervise and assist in student learning, co-supervise student activities, including, where appropriate, PGT and field trips, and manufacture prosthetic and orthotic devices as required for teaching. Additionally, you will maintain clinical spaces within the P&O department, ensuring they are clean and tidy. This hands-on role involves laboratory management, equipment maintenance, research support, health and safety compliance, risk assessments, and COSHH documentation. We are looking for a detail-oriented, customer-focused laboratory technician committed to delivering high-quality teaching, supporting research excellence, and fostering continuous improvement.
