About the Role
This is an exciting position where applicants are invited to join a multi-disciplinary team of bioengineers, biomedical scientists, and computer scientists working together at Queen Mary across the Centre for Bioengineering, Blizard Institute, and Barts Cancer Institute.
The project will investigate the mechanisms through which breast cancer invades and colonises bone tissue using in silico models to replicate disease. We are particularly interested in the effects of exercise on the development of bone lesions, and the potential role played by mechanosensitive osteocyte cells in this condition. You will evaluate their interactions by building in silico models to establish the relationship between mechanical loading, cell imaging, in vivo micro-CT, and spatial transcriptomics, identifying the key mechanisms governing this process.
About You
We are looking to appoint a European Research Council-funded PDRA with a background in bioinformatics and computational biomechanics. The ideal candidate will have a computer science, biomedical sciences or bioengineering background, with experience of interdisciplinary research and experience of bioinformatics analyses. Alternatively, you could be an engineer with biomechanical or other relevant skills in inflammation and pathology, though with experience of handling large datasets.
