About us
The Department of Anthropology at UCL is a research-led department with an international reputation, offering innovative teaching programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
The department is one of only a few broad-based anthropology departments in the UK comprising five sub-sections: Evolutionary and Environmental Anthropology, Social Anthropology, Material Culture, Medical Anthropology and Public Anthropology.
About the role
We are looking to appoint an Associate Lecturer (Teaching) in Evolutionary Anthropology. The role will be available from September 2026 through to December 2027.
The salary for this role is between £47,451 to £52,586 per annum.
You will be responsible for preparing and delivering teaching materials, supervising and grading dissertations, and providing excellent academic support for students. You will collaborate closely with department members to ensure the teaching provision meets the students' requirements.

About you
We are seeking applicants with broad expertise within Evolutionary Medicine and Quantitative Methods, and particularly welcome those with theoretical, regional or methodological interests that complement the interests of existing staff in the Department of Anthropology.
The ideal candidate will have a PhD (or viva date set) in Evolutionary Anthropology or a closely related field. They will have experience of teaching topics related to Evolutionary Anthropology, and the ability to teach quantitative methods, including basic coding in R at PG level. You will also possess proven experience of working effectively both independently and as part of a team, alongside a demonstrable commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion in research, teaching, institutional citizenship, and public engagement.
