Prof. Khamis is a Consultant Cardiologist and Reader at Imperial College London. His research team consists of clinicians and scientists, focusing on the targeting of oxidised-LDL, a key driver of atherosclerosis. What you would be doing:

You will be based at the Imperial Centre for Translational and Experimental Medicine (ICTEM). You will be responsible for:

  • In vivo and ex vivo molecular imaging of atherosclerosis in multiple models and using multiple fluorescence based methods.
  • Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) isolation and culture.
  • Antibody generation and purification.
  • Labelling and characterisation of antibodies and other constructs for in vivo imaging and drug delivery.
  • Widefield and Confocal microscopy for ex vivo analysis.
  • Optimising and performing a variety of assays including FACS, ELISA, western blotting, IHC, ICC and qPCR.
  • Handling and processing of data and data presentation.

What we are looking for:

  • BSc Degree in Biological Sciences or related field or equivalent vocational qualification required, MSc is desirable.
  • Practical experience with in vivo work, including a personal home office licence (PIL AB+C).
  • Practical experience in laboratory-based research with familiarity with some basic molecular techniques (FACS, ELISA, Immunohistochemistry, qPCR, Western blots).
  • Experience with statistical analysis of data (PRISM) and presentation of data.

What we can offer you:

  • A collaborative, supportive environment with leading scientists and clinicians.
  • Be part of a high-impact, patient-focused research project.
  • Access to state-of-the-art facilities and training in advanced cell biology techniques.
  • Opportunities to contribute to publications and clinical translation.
  • The opportunity to continue your career at a world-leading institution.
  • Sector-leading salary and remuneration package (including 39 days off a year).
