Lady Margaret Hall (LMH) invites applications for a fixed-term Stipendiary Lectureship in Engineering Science, offered from 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2027. The post is to provide tutorial teaching in Engineering Mathematics to undergraduate students reading Engineering Science.
This is a teaching-focused post, ideally suited to early-career academics seeking to develop their experience within Oxford’s collegiate system. The successful candidate will undertake an average of four hours of tutorial teaching per week during Full Term.
Teaching responsibilities include:
Additional duties include acting as a Personal Tutor for undergraduates, setting and marking College examinations (collections), writing tutorial reports, supporting Engineering admissions in December 2026, and contributing to the academic and pastoral life of the College. The Lecturer will also act as a College Advisor to graduate students in Engineering Science and related areas and will participate in relevant College committees and activities.

The salary will be £11,270–£12,446 per annum (current rates for a 4-hour post). The post is pensionable under the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS). Applicants should hold (or be near completion of) a PhD/DPhil in Engineering or a related discipline, demonstrate excellent tutorial teaching ability, and show a strong commitment to supporting high-achieving undergraduates. The ability to teach core areas of Engineering Mathematics is essential.
