Main duties and responsibilities
De Montfort University is seeking a Statutory Returns Analyst to join the Strategic Planning and Insight directorate. This role offers an opportunity to support the accuracy, integrity, and impact of the University’s student data. You will work with complex datasets to ensure external submissions are accurate, compliant, and high-quality, while helping colleagues use data effectively to generate insight.

Ideal candidate
We are looking for a highly analytical and detail-oriented individual who enjoys working with data and ensuring its accuracy and reliability for onward use. You will support statutory and regulatory reporting, with a particular focus on maintaining data quality, validation, and assurance, while providing insight that informs decision-making across the University.
You will bring strong numeracy and IT skills, with experience using a range of tools to extract, check, and report on complex datasets. You will be comfortable working with large, varied datasets and have experience identifying inconsistencies, resolving errors, and ensuring outputs meet high standards. An understanding of data quality, validation, and assurance processes is essential, alongside experience contributing to statutory, regulatory, or similar organisational reporting.
You will be well organised, able to manage competing priorities and deadlines and take a proactive approach to identifying and addressing data issues and improving processes. Strong interpersonal skills are important, as you will work collaboratively with colleagues across the University and support others to use and interpret data effectively.
