The Doctoral Training Centre (DTC) is a dynamic environment which evolves according to the research landscape, responding to scientific, industrial and social demand. We offer 4-year interdisciplinary PhD degrees, providing innovative world-class training for around 100 students per year before they embark on their substantive research in departments across the University, with collaborative institutions, or with industrial partners, with the funding held and managed by the DTC.

We are looking to appoint an experienced administrator to our team as Programme Administrator for the Interdisciplinary Life and Environmental Science Landscape Award (ILESLA) and for on-course students within the NERC Environmental Research Doctoral Training Partnership.

This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working, with a minimum of 3 days per week onsite and the expectation of occasional additional days onsite to meet operational requirements when necessary. 

About the Role

This is a varied role and working closely with the Programme Manager, the Grants and Studentship Manager, one other Programme Administrator and the academic Programme Directors, covers a wide aspect of the student experience, including recruitment and admissions, management of taught modules, transfer to host research groups, events, marketing and website management, funding and finance administration, industrial contract administration, committee servicing and management of the mandatory Internship portfolio.

About You

Educated to degree level or equivalent, you will have significant administrative and financial management experience, preferably within the higher education sector. You will have strong IT skills, a proven team ethic, be highly organised and motivated, and have the ability to confidently and effectively communicate with colleagues across the University and with external stakeholders. You will thrive in a busy environment, striving for excellence in all areas of your work to contribute to the success of the programmes and the DTC overall.
