Aston Business School, a triple-crown accredited School situated in the heart of Birmingham - England’s second-largest city - seeks to appoint a highly motivated and ambitious academic with a demonstrated ability and interest in achieving excellence in research, teaching, and impactful contributions within the field of Finance.
The Department of Accounting and Finance, containing nearly 50 members, aims to recruit a team-oriented faculty member (or members) at the Lecturer level in Finance. The Department prioritizes international standards of scholarship and research excellence, and the successful candidate will be expected to contribute significantly to the advancement and reputation of the Department in these areas.
We are in search of dedicated colleagues who exhibit strong potential as researchers. The successful applicants should be capable of conducting independent research and demonstrating leadership in finance related to research initiatives, including the pursuit of research grants. Their research outputs should meet the high standards necessary for publication in leading journals within Finance, and/or in closely allied academic disciplines such as Economics, Data Analytics, and Fintech/Machine Learning for Finance.
The individual will also be expected to provide exemplary teaching in our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Experience and proficiency in teaching topics such as Risk Management, Fintech, and Machine Learning in Finance would be particularly advantageous.
The successful candidate should also be prepared to undertake administrative duties and participate in academic citizenship activities, as well as assume academic leadership roles as appropriate.
By joining the Accounting and Finance Department, you will be part of a dynamic group of academics whose research has been published in prestigious journals and who possess extensive experience in supervising PhD students and securing research funding – you will be expected to contribute in all of these areas. We foster an environment that promotes academic excellence, encourages mutual support and collaboration, and nurtures the development of emerging academics.
While a teaching qualification is desirable, we are happy to support early-career candidates in obtaining a teaching qualification and fellowship with Advance HE.
You will have a good first degree and a PhD both in a relevant academic discipline. You will ideally have experience of a UK University.
